Enjoyable and less confused than some of MacLeod's earlier work and a really interesting attack on fundamentalism of all kinds. As usual his artificial intelligence characters take centre stage and are a lot more interesting than the human characters, especially Skulk (short for Skullcrusher), an ex-battle mech in the body of a police probe droid. There is also something incredibly satisfying about reading a sci-fi novel set in a city I know as well as Edinburgh.

More a Crime Novel with SF themes, than an SF Novel. It has one of the most interesting settings I've read in a long time examining the place of religeon in society
