A great book. A fairy tale for all ages. Immensely readable. It raises questions about church & state, the soul and religion without letting them overwhelm the story. Compared to The Lord of the Rings in the BBC big read but Pullman's style and scope elevate it to a level far beyond.
The last character I loved as much as Iorek Byrnison was Chewbacca.
