Enjoyable book which has been totally overhyped. Responsible for thousands of children finding out that the realities of boarding school are a lot worse than Lord Voldemort.

I'm sorry but these are books written for children with very little to interest the adult mind. I'll admit to not having read this one but I only managed to get three chapters into the second one before having to give up. It gets an extra star for the fact that kids are reading again though... I just wish they were reading something good.

A nostalgic return to the books of my youth, without the sophistication of the likes of Roald Dahl - I still enjoyed it however, and have since read the sequels
