DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES...

Except to Harry Keogh, Necroscope. And what they tell him is horrifying.

In the Balkan mountains of Rumania, a terrible evil is growing. Long buried in hallowed ground, bound by earth and silver, the master vampire schemes and plots. Trapped in unlife, neither dead nor living, Thibor Ferenczy hungers for freedom and revenge.

I basically enjoyed this book, although it got a bit over the top in places, especially towards the end. Really, I'd have preferred a more straightforward and general confrontation between two supernaturally powered Cold War spy rings to the book's duel between a goody and a baddie but that may just be personal taste. The writing was pretty nimble, although stomach churning in some scenes. I thought the gradual transition of Dragosani from a somewhat sympathetic character into an utter monster was handled well.

I enjoyed this a lot more than the cover led me to believe it would. The first half/three quarters was brilliantly written and not what i was expected at all. Possibly my only complaint would be that it then descended into a massive fight involving zombies, vampires and portals in space time. Possibly the best ESP / Zombie / Cold War thriller / Vampire crossover I've ever read!
