The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (L. Frank Baum)

Perhaps if I'd read this when I was younger it would have done something for me...or maybe it's a book that you need to have read to you - I just found it poorly written and not very interesting at all

Dull. Give me Grimms stuff anytime

A children's book and it reads like it but still a classic. Unfortunately I think it is possibly trumped by the classic 1939 film in terms of iconography (they'll always be ruby slippers in my mind) and it does tail off a bit strangely towards the end. Much better read outloud I think but enjoyable nonetheless.
