Like Graham I found this quite an interesting perspective on scientific experimentation for it's own sake. The main character is depressingly wet however, and frankly I can't understand how he avoided getting eaten

This was interesting and enjoyable. Summed up for me by the part of the book in which the narrator bemoans the fact that he could have understood what was going on better if he thought that Moreau had any purpose other than petty sadism for his experiments. Interesting to read in the light of the very explicit anti-genetic modification literature of today.
